Meet the Gang
Diane M. Cammarata
Actor/Director, co-Resident Dramaturg,
and Board Member at Large
A very welcome member of Subversive Theatre, Diane wears
many hats with our organization -- a member of our troupe's Board of
Trustees, she is also one of our resident dramaturges as well as both acting
and directing in our productions. As if that's not enough, Diane is also
the founder and director of Demeter's Daughters, a group organized to
give voice to women in the arts.
Diane has taught drama and theatre arts prolifically in
America and abroad. In the past, she has written and directed
dramas with university students in Otaru and Sapporo, Japan as well as in
Brighton, UK. She holds a Master's Degree in Theatre and the
Humanities as well as a PhD. in Literature from SUNY Buffalo. A published poet,
Diane continues to write poetry, drama, and fiction.
Acting credits include work in Japan, Greece, Ireland,
and Australia. Locally she has appeared with Studio Arena, Irish
Classical, Alleyway, TornSpace, and SUNY Buffalo's Department of Theatre and
Dance as well as doing video work with Film Circle Studios.
Diane's Subversive Theatre credits include our production of
"Patriot Act" as part of SUBVERSIVE SHORTS 2005 and
our staged reading of SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER (pictured above) for May Day 2007.
Diane also directed our staged reading of WAITING
FOR LEFTY for May Day 2006 and, most recently, directed "The Death of
Socrates in America" as part of SUBVERSIVE SHORTS 2007.
A dedicated thespian, Diane always brings a welcome
dose of experience, intelligence, and maturity to every project she's
involved in. We're very happy to count her among Subversive
Theatre's ranks.
