Dyan is thrilled to be welcomed into the
Subversive Theatre family as Resident Set Designer. With Subversive
Theatre, Dyan served as Set Designer for our Artie Award-winning production of WAITING FOR LEFTY (Jan-Feb
2008, New Phoenix Theatre) and then
took on serving as the designer of lights, set, and props for our production
of NICKEL AND DIMED (April-May
2008, Alt Theatre).
She provided the set design for our rendition of ...AND THEY PUT
HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS as a part of Buffalo's 2008 "infringement"
Festival, magically transforming the cavernous basement of the
former Kitchen Distribution Warehouse into a Spanish prison during the
Franco Dictatorship.
Investing a huge amount of volunteer labor into our
new performance space The Manny Fried Playhouse in the Fall
of 2008, Dyan served as both Set
and Costume Designer for our debut production of PALACE OF THE END
and then crafted both Set and Lighting Design for our following production
of DROP
HAMMER. She provided the Set & Poster Design for OUROBOROS,
the Set Design for WATERBOARDING BLUES and sUBVERsIVE sHORTs 2009
and the Poster Design for TOO ABSURD!
Over this last season, Dyan has been the Set
Designer for TWILIGHT,
84,
and HARVEST.
Around town she also does design and tech work for
the Seneca Niagara/Allegany Casino, UB's Center For the Arts and Theatre
Department, Advanced Production Group, RPM Productions, and local band Lazlo
Hollyfeld. She also recently exhibited a piece at Hallwall's annual
Artists and Models at the Central Terminal. Dyan looks forward to upcoming
projects with Subversive!
Dyan holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Stage
Design from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Theatre Design and Technology from the University at Buffalo.
Look for Dyan's set design talents at work again in
our upcoming production of 84 in January of 2010.
