A long-time Buffalo actor and sometime director, Katie is often to be seen
on stage with the Buffalo United Artists Theatre. Other recent stage
credits include Road Less Traveled's PEDDLER'S BONES, Kavinoky's THE
GLASS MENAGERIE, Shakespeare in the Park's MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM,
and Studio Arena's MOUSETRAP.
Katie first appeared with
Subversive Theatre as Fairouz Saboura in our 2004 staged reading of IN THE HEART OF AMERICA
and returned to play Joan Levy in BURY THE DEAD as part of
the Buffalo rendition of the international "Bury the Dead
Project" on September 19th, 2005.
Katie brought her acting talents to
bear as Furball #2 in our off-the-wall production of Mac
Wellman's SINCERITY FOREVER for the 2006 Buffalo
"infringement" Festival.
Katie
directed our staged reading of the anti-war docu-drama WHAT I HEARD ABOUT IRAQ on March 20th,
2006 to mark the third anniversary of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq. She
also directed the
vignette "A Random Act" as part of our upcoming 2007 "SUBVERSIVE
SHORTS" Program.
Most recently, Katie took on the extremely
challenging role of Rachel Corrie (pictured above) in the controversial one-woman play MY
NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE which we presented in collaboration with the
Buffalo United Artists Theatre at the Main Street Cabaret in March of 2008. Katie's
rendition of this very demanding and deeply emotional role was quite simply
masterful.
A rare combination of both artistic talent
and social consciousness, Katie is an extremely welcome member of our
subversive team.
