Meet the Gang
Lawrence Rowswell
Actor/Photographer
Proudly active in both traditional and unconventional
theatrical styles, Larry feels quite at home as a member of Subversive
Theatre.
Over the years, Larry has appeared with
Shakespeare in Delaware Park, Theater of Youth, Buffalo United Artists, Road
Less Traveled Productions, and
the Irish Classical Theatre.
He has also been involved with more experimental theatre
endeavors with the likes of the Blue Garrote Collective, RJK Productions, and Morphine Hearts Productions.
Over the last five years, Larry has appeared in
Subversive Theatre's staged readings of ARE YOU NOW OR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN
for May Day 2004, BURY THE DEAD in September 2005,
and WAITING FOR LEFTY
for May Day 2006.
In our full productions, Larry first performed in
the world-debut of Kurt Schneiderman's FOUNDATIONS
in January of 2007. Not long after that, he brought his full repertoire to
bear playing a dizzying number of roles in the wild political farce "The
Lighter Side of Outsourcing Torture" as part of SUBVERSIVE
SHORTS 2007 and then let loose his darker side in our surreal production of ...AND
THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS. (pictured left) for the 2008 Buffalo "infringement"
Festival.
Larry appeared in the first-ever performance at our
regular performance venue The Manny Fried Playhouse portraying the much maligned British weapons expert
Dr. David Kelley in our production of PALACE
OF THE END (2008). Most recently -- brought his movement and pantomime skills to
bear in our highly experimental production of OUROBOROS
(2009).
Also a talented photographer, Larry has helped
capture images of a long list of our productions including THE
EXCEPTION AND THE RULE (2007), DROP
HAMMER (2008), and -- most recently -- WIDOWS (2009).
