Tom Izard
Actor/Troupe Financial Officer
Tom describes himself as a "jackleg thespian" who
"frittered away his formative years as a University Lecturer in Computer
Science and as a software engineer for the next quarter century."
A volunteer fire fighter in the sunny uplands of Pendleton,
NY, Tom's first appearances on stage were in humble roles in TEN LITTLE
INDIANS and MARVIN'S ROOM at Tonawanda's Ghostlight Theatre.
His interest in acting was starting to wane . . .
until he ran into Subversive Theatre. Now he has appeared in four of
our productions and become one of our most dedicated members.
His first "subversive"
performance came in the
vignette "The Death of Socrates in America" for SUBVERSIVE SHORTS 2007,
then came WAITING FOR LEFTY
(2008), NICKEL
AND DIMED (2008), our staged reading of THE
MAN WHO NEVER DIED for May Day 2008, DROP
HAMMER (2008), our staged reading of DAYS OF THE COMMUNE for
May Day 2009, and most recently in two of the vignettes of sUBVERsIVE
sHORTs 2009 -- "Ismene's Press Conference" and "Planet of
the Enriques" (pictured left).
Since our company took up residence at The
Manny Fried Playhouse in September of 2008, Tom has routinely played
a central role in the construction and set-up work needed in our performance
space. In January of 2009, Tom also became the Financial
Officer of our Troupe. He continues to keep us on track both on stage
and off.
