For our seventh annual "infringement"
Festival production, we unapologetically present the world-debut of
GUILLOTINE:
Heads Will Roll!
a vibrantly in-your-face and deliciously
original protest play that roams the streets of Allentown defiantly
telling it like it is, was, and ought to be!
Daring spectators are invited to gather in
Buffalo's Day's Park and follow the caravan through the streets, backyards,
alleyway, and byways of Allentown for a time-tripping theatrical experience
as
GUILLOTINE
conjures famous freedom fighters from the French
Revolution through to modern times.
Thomas Jefferson, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Theresa, and many more draw the all-too-frightening
parallels between the political corruption of Bourbon France of 1789 and the
outrages of today's political system.
Find out what happens when corporate corruption
and greed take over changing the United States in "USA-inc".
When the People are no longer citizens, but indentured employees of the
first corporate state. Where democracy is outsourced and people
are executed by guillotine -- "the corporate razor" --
just for thinking like the subversive rebel of America past, Thomas Jefferson.
GUILLOTINE: Heads Will Roll!
is the brain-child of internationally-renowned experimental director Joe
Siracusa. Subversive Theatre is thrilled to bring this wildly
inventive bohemian artist to Buffalo for a second time (he first graced
Subversive Theatre with his extraordinary production of the one-man show I
AM HAMLET in May/June of 2010).
.
Written and directed by Joe Siracusa with Assistant Direction by
Subversive Theatre's own Colleen Neumann*, GUILLOTINE
features the acting talents of Brittany Kucala*, Mollie McDermott, Tommy
Vane, Emilie Pryor, John Kehoe, Stephane Ouedraogo, Caitlin Neumann, and Lesta Ammons.
Costume Design is Mollie McDermott with Technical Direction by Emily
Pedersen.
Performances run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and
Sundays for the two weekends of the Buffalo "infringement"
Festival -- July 28th through August 7th -- with each show beginning in
Day's Park and wending its way through Allentown from thence.
As a special bonus, we'll also be presenting one
weekend of indoor performances at our Manny Fried Playhouse at 255 Great
Arrow Avenue on the third floor of North Buffalo's Great Arrow Building
running August 11th through the 13th with shows Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday at 8pm.
Admission for ALL shows is pay-what-you-can (suggested
donation $10.00 per person). For more information,
