"The Arts are the locale for a kind of guerilla warfare . . . they're subtle so the Establishment gambles that they won't lead to anything threatening.
But the Establishment often loses that gamble."

A hundred and one years ago there was a revolutionary Christmas where peace broke out in the midst of war.

It really happened.  On December 25th, 1914, the soldiers of World War I came out of their trenches and put down their guns.  They defied their generals and declared their own truce -- a "Christmas Truce" -- as they celebrated the holiday with their supposed enemies from the other side of the battlefield.  They showed the World that people could rise above propaganda and nationalism and hate and bring the war machine to a screeching halt.

Subversive Theatre is proud to commemorate the 101 year anniversary of this incredible event with a revival of our award-winning production: THE GUNS OF CHRISTMAS written & directed by Buffalo's award-winning author Gary Earl Ross.  This revised version of last year's winner of the Artie Award for "Outstanding New Play" retells the events of Christmas 1914 as a 1940s radio play.

A different take on the same story, this year's rendition still smolders with same revolutionary spirit as it recalls a day when "peace on earth, goodwill toward men" proved to be much more than just a holiday refrain.  Join us for this rare chance to enjoy last year's masterpiece all over again -- help us keep alive a revolutionary Christmas spirit.

"Either we will end war or war will end us."
-Percy

We're proud to welcome back almost the entire cast from last year's production. Actors John Kennedy*, Justin Fiordaliso, Thorin Vallentine, Jacob Sauer, and Michael Mottern* return as the German soldiers.  New-comer Cody Jones joins the ranks of the British soldiers who are once again brought to life by the acting talents of Lucas Lloyd, Lawrence Rowswell*, J. Tim Raymond*, and Ryan Filer*.  Murry Galloway* pulls double-duty as both the British and the German officer.

THE GUNS OF CHRISTMAS: The Radio Play runs December 18th - 22nd with performances Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.  All shows are at 8pm in Subversive Theatre's usual performance venue, The Manny Fried Playhouse, at 255 Great Arrow Avenue on the third floor of North Buffalo's historic Great Arrow Building.

Tickets are $15 general admission or $10 for students, seniors, and Subversive Theatre members.
