Brian Zybala*
("Ringmaster" & others)
An ardent member of Subversive Theatre with an
unbridle passion for experimental theatre, Brian holds a BFA in Theatre from
the University at Buffalo and an MEd from Boston's Leslie
University. Stage credits include Theater for Change, RANT, Irish Classical, New
Phoenix, and Skeletons in the Closet Productions.
With Subversive Theatre, Brian has
appeared in a long list of productions spanning all the way from THE
ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST in 2002 to -- most recently -- sUBVERsIVE
sHORTs 2009. Brian made his directorial debut with our production of
OUROBOROS
earlier this year.

Patrick Cameron
("The Yank")
Patrick is excited to be in such a great show and to
be able to work with such great people.
He recently graduated from UB with a BFA in Theatre
Performance where he was seen in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, TWELFTH
NIGHT, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, and THE SHAPE OF THINGS.
Other notable credits include Jewish Reperatory Theatre's production of AWAKE
AND SING and his most recent role in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON MY WAY
TO THE FORUM at the Lancaster
Opera House.
THE HAIRY APE marks Patrick's first appearance
with Subversive Theatre. He wants to thank all of his friends and family
who have always been so loving and supportive. |

Paul O'Hern
("Paddy" & others)
Paul's a tried and true theatre veteran who's
appeared on many local stages over the last twenty years including Irish
Classical, Alleyway, and the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre. Recently Paul
enjoyed the rare opportunity of performing in a film by world-renowned
experimental director Richard Foreman.
Favorite projects include THE SPEED OF DARKNESS,
JIMMYTOWN, DAY OF ABSENCE and THE CRUSTACEAN WALTZ where
he had the privilege of working with recently passed away theatre artists Tim
White & Rebecca Ritchie. He misses them both.
Paul last appeared with Subversive Theatre in our
production of NICKEL

Candice Kogut*
("Mildred" & others)
A graduate of Niagara University, Candice's
stage credits include her Artie Award-nominated performance in Torn Space's THE
FASTEST CLOCK IN THE UNIVERSE as well as METAMORPHOSIS and BLACKBIRD
with New Phoenix Theatre.
In addition to being a member of Subversive Theatre,
she is also an Actor-in-Residence with the New Alt Performance Group.
Candice's last appearance with Subversive Theatre was
in our production of ...AND
THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS. for last summer's "infringement"
Festival. Candice sends love to Drew & the entire cast, and would
like to thank Kurt for NOT putting this show on in the basement of Kitchen
Distribution Warehouse. |

Betsy Bittar
("Aunt" & others)
A member of the Board of Directors of the New Phoenix
Theatre, Betsy has appeared in several of their productions including THE
WOMAN BEFORE, ALICE UNDERGROUND and -- most recently -- THE
BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE.
Other credits include BEHIND THE GREEN DOG and
NIGHT OF THE IGUANA with the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre, A CHILD'S
CHRISTMAS IN WALES with Irish Classical, and a one-woman tour-de-force
performance in Pandora's Box's BECCA AND HEIDI.
With Subversive Theatre, Betsy performed in MOTHER
DIS-COURAGE (2004), SINCERITY FOREVER (2006), and -- most recently
-- DROP HAMMER (2008). Betsy will be making her directorial debut
at New Phoenix with CATALANIA DE ERAUSO in February.

Anthony Orlowski
("Long" & others)
Stage struck since his days at the Buffalo Academy of
Visual and Performing Arts, Anthony studied acting at the University of
Buffalo, Buffalo State College, and Fredonia.
In addition to work back stage on a number of
productions, Anthony has performed in a long list of local plays, commercials
and promotional films that have taken him from stage, screen, and even onto
the radio.
He made his first appearance with Subversive Theatre
in our co-production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT with Daemen College earlier
this year. Welcome back to the fun, Anthony! |

John Vines
("I.W.W. Secretary" & others)
John Vines studied theatre in New York City under the
direction of Marilyn Fried of the Actor's Studio. Stage credits in the
New York area include A WINDOW IN HARLEM, MIND, BODY, & SOUL,
and OLODUM. Screen credits include the independent films THREE
ROUNDS and THE BOX PREACHER as well as work as a brief appearance in the
Hollywood film THE INTERPRETER.
Having recently relocated to Buffalo, John has only
just started begun to get active in the local theatre community. His
other appearances with Subversive Theatre came in WATERBOARDING BLUES
(2009) and our staged reading of DAYS OF THE COMMUNE for May Day 2009.

Drew McCabe*
(multiple roles)
A
director, writer, actor, mask maker and visual artist, Drew graduated from the
University at Buffalo in 2007 and has worked locally with an array of
companies including the ALT Theatre, Irish Classical, Jewish
Repertory Theater, and Theatre Helden.
Directing favorites of his include THE SMOKING GUN
TRIO for ART and, A REPORT ON LIFE SO FAR and LIT-401 for
the ALT Theatre.
A relatively new member of Subversive Theatre, Drew
recently directed our production of Ionesco's THE LESSON and "Kangaroo
Court" for sUBVERsIVE sHORTs 2009. He'll be back in
the spring to direct Brecht's A MAN'S A MAN.
He'd like to thank his girlfriend (and cast mate)

Sarah Brown
(multiple roles)
A recent graduate of the Department of Theatre and
Dance at the University at Buffalo, Sarah has appeared in their departmental
productions of THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, THE CHERRY ORCHARD, THE SHAPE OF THINGS ("Evelyn") and THE
IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST ("Lady Bracknel").
Sarah also recently had the opportunity to work with
world-renowned experimental director Richard Foreman on his (and her) first
ever foray into film.
THE HAIRY APE marks Sarah's second appearance with
Subversive Theatre -- the first came in our Artie Award-nominated production
of WAITING FOR
LEFTY (2008). We're thrilled to have her back in the mix!

Monica Karwan*
(multiple roles)
A graduate of UB's Department of Theatre and Dance,
Monica went on to get her M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy from Leslie
University. A skilled actress and dancer, she's appeared in
experimental genre-defying projects from London, England to Kingstown, Jamaica.
One of our earliest members, Monica first appeared with Subversive Theatre in our
first ever full-scale production, THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST,
in 2003. After a five year hiatus, Monica returned to perform in and
choreograph our production of THE
EXCEPTION AND THE RULE for the '07 "infringement"
Festival and then choreographed ...AND
THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS. for the '08 "infringement"
Festival. |

Leonard Ziolkowski
("The Hairy Ape")
One of our area's most respected practitioners of a
wide range of mime and movement techniques, Lenny has lent his unique talents
to a number of performance art-oriented theatre projects including Skeletons
in the Closet's productions of THE BEDEVILED CHEST and MEDIUM
RARE, Irish Classical Theatre's AMADEUS, and the New Phoenix Theatre's
METAMORPHOSIS, ALICE UNDERGROUND, and GILGAMESH.
This is Lenny's third consecutive summer working with
Subversive Theatre on mind-bending "infringement" Festival
projects -- the first two were THE
EXCEPTION AND THE RULE (2007) and ...AND
THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS. (2008).

Mark F. Tattenbaum*
(puppetry & puppet construction)
Mark holds an M.F.A. and is a Ph.D. candidate in
American Studies at the University at Buffalo, specializing in theatre and
film. He is an award-winning artist working as a director, actor,
dramaturg, producer, playwright, and poet.
Mark recently completed a Fulbright Senior Scholars
project at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz State Theatre Academy, Department of
Puppetry and Directing in Bialystok,
Poland.
One of Subversive Theatre's newest members, Mark
recently directed a version of Slawomir Mrozek's ON THE SEA as part of our
off-the-wall double-header production TOO ABSURD! (2009). |

Patrick Cain
(musician and sound effects artist)
The quintessential bohemian artist, Pat has been
involved -- both as a musician and as a performer -- in many an experimental
theatrical endeavor.
As a performer, Pat has lent his talents to such
off-the-beaten-path projects as the New Phoenix Theatre's ALICE UNDERGROUND
and Skeletons in the Closet's MEDIUM RARE. As a musician, he has provided live music and
Foley effects for performance art style productions like the New Phoenix's
renditions of GILGAMESH and METAMORPHOSIS.
This is Pat's third consecutive summer working with
Subversive Theatre on mind-bending "infringement" Festival
projects -- the first two were THE
EXCEPTION AND THE RULE (2007 -- pictured right) and ...AND

Gabriel Gutierrez
(musician and sound effects artist)
Gabe is new to live theater but has played music in
Buffalo with the 12/8 Path Band, Buffalo Improvisors
Orchestra, Diaspora Drumming, La Marimba,
-- and one notable gig in Chicago
with the infamous Str8 Pimpin'.
He is happily learning a lot from his experiences
with the amazing Subversive Theater folks. A fiscal liberal, he
lives in Buffalo, New York
with his troubling ennui.
