"The thrust for freedom is the quality in tragedy which exalts.  The revolutionary questioning of the stable environment is what terrifies.  In no way is the common man debarred from such thoughts or such actions."

-Arthur Miller

About the Crew of

...AND THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS.
Here's the fearless gang of behind-the-scenes-ians who made everything possible!

Kurt "Vile" Schneiderman*
(Director/Producer/Stage Manager)
Subversive Theatre's Founder & Artistic Director, Kurt finds it both an honor and a challenge to be working on such a cryptic and multi-disciplinary project as "...and they put handcuffs on the flowers."
Above all, Kurt is thrilled to be working on this project with his wonderful wife Jenny who will be giving birth to the world's newest subversive in December!
A playwright, director, Award-winning lighting designer, college professor, and life-long activist, Kurt has directed the lion's share of Subversive Theatre's productions including our Artie-Award winning production of WAITING FOR LEFTY (2008).

Jeanette Schneiderman*
(Prompt/Props Mistress/House Manager)
A teacher of Global Studies at Buffalo's Bennett High School, Jenny has been an extremely dedicated member of Subversive Theatre's Board of Directors for almost four years now.
Often working behind the scenes, Jenny has provided invaluable assistance with the production tasks of many Subversive Theatre shows including NICKEL AND DIMED (2008), WAITING FOR LEFTY (2008), THE EXCEPTION AND THE RULE (2007), and SINCERITY FOREVER (2006), to name only a few.
Whether it's copying up scripts, finding props, managing the door come performance time, or just about anything else that needs doing, Jenny always finds a way to come through for Subversive Theatre and we're thrilled to have her on board once again!

Carlie Todoro-Rickus*
(Lighting Designer)
Resident Lighting Designer for both Subversive Theatre and the Configuration Dance Company, Carlie is a visual artist who uses light as her medium on a living canvas. Recent designs projects include THE WOMAN BEFORE for New Phoenix Theatre and IN THE MIST for the Zodiaque Dance Studio Ensemble.
Carlie has a degree in Fine Arts from the University at Buffalo and is also proud to design and tech for UB Center for the Arts, Studio Arena Theatre, RPM Productions, and -- of course -- Subversive Theatre!
Most recently, Carlie provided the lighting design for our production of WAITING FOR LEFTY earlier this year.

Dyan O'Connell
(Set Designer)
Dyan is excited to be working on her third production with Subversive Theatre. She designed the set for Subversive’s production of WAITING FOR LEFTY back in January and then did the set for NICKEL AND DIMED in April.
Around town Dyan also does design and tech work for Seneca Niagara/Allegany Casino, UB Center For the Arts, and local band Lazlo Hollyfeld. This past fall she was working and teaching in the UB Theatre Department.
Dyan has a M.F.A. degree in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and a B.A. degree in Theatre Design and Technology from the University at Buffalo.  Recent designs in Dallas include HAMLET and SPRING AWAKENING.

Monica Karwan*
(Movement Choreographer)
The proud mother of two daughters, Monica is a graduate of UB's Department of Theatre and Dance who went on to get her M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  A skilled actress and dancer, Monica has appeared in experimental genre-defying productions from London, England to Kingstown, Jamaica.
Monica first appeared with Subversive Theatre in our first ever full-scale production, THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST, in 2003.  After a five year hiatus, Monica returned to perform and choreograph our production of THE EXCEPTION AND THE RULE for last year's "infringement" Festival.  We're very pleased to have her on board again this year.

Jessica Stuber*
(Costume Designer)
An enthusiastic member of Subversive Theatre and a recent graduate of the Musical Theatre Program at the University at Buffalo, Jessica has experience with a number of technical aspects of theatre in addition to her on stage work.  On this production she is pulling double-duty as both a performer and as our costume designer.
This is the second time Jessica has served as both performer and costume designer on Subversive Theatre production -- the first time was our production of NICKEL AND DIMED earlier this year.

Candice Kogut
(Fight Captain)
In addition to her duties on stage, Candice is also serving as this production's Fight Captain.  Certified in stage combat at Niagara University, we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to call upon the services of someone with her many talents.

Michael Fanelli*
(Promotional Director & House Manager)
As Subversive Theatre's Executive Director, Board Member, and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Mike routinely plays a variety of crucial roles in bringing our productions to life.
As always, we're delighted to have him on board.  Thanks, Mike, we couldn't do it with out ya!
