"The subjects for our people's theatre will have to be new.  Its audience has changed, and now we must talk to this audience about itself.
As far as I am concerned, I now have nothing more to say to the bourgeois."

-Jean-Paul Sartre
1955

Brian Zybala*
(Director)
Brian has been experimenting with physical theater for the last eight years.  As a student at SUNY at Buffalo, he studied physical theater under Sally Fox & Vincent O'Neill and directing under Kazimierz Braun & mentorship of Jerry Finnegan.
Brian directed a student production of J.B.  while also working with the experimental theater group RANT.  His first professional performance in an experimental project was THE BEDEVILED CHEST performed with Skeleton's in the Closet Productions.  Since then he's made multiple appearances with Subversive Theatre.
OUROBOROS marks Brian's professional directorial debut and we count ourselves very lucky to have an artist with his unique vision on the job!

Virginia Brannon*
(Stage Manager)
Subversive Theatre's co-Resident Dramaturg, Virginia is a graduate of Niagara University's Theatre Department.  An experienced actress, director, and stage manager, she also works regularly with Lewiston's Theatre-in-the-Mist and the Buffalo "infringement" Festival.
This is Virginia's fourth time stage managing a Subversive Theatre project.  She has also directed our productions of NICKEL AND DIMED (2008) and PALACE OF THE END (2008) as well as the vignette "Please Remove this Stuffed Animal from My Head" as part of SUBVERSIVE SHORTS 2007.

Dyan O'Connell*
(Set & Poster Designer)
Dyan is excited to be working on yet another production with Subversive Theatre. Our Troupe's co-Resident Set Designer, she's crafted sets for the last six productions -- WAITING FOR LEFTY, NICKEL AND DIMED, ...AND THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS., PALACE OF THE END, and DROP HAMMER.
Dyan has an MFA in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and a BA in Theatre Design and Technology from the University at Buffalo.  Designs in Dallas include HAMLET and SPRING AWAKENING.

John Shotwell*
(Sound Designer)
Subversive Theatre's Resident Sound Designer, John is a freelance audio engineer and stagehand.  His extensive list of sound design credits include: New Phoenix Theatre, Road Less Traveled Productions, Shakespeare in Delaware Park, and the Lazlo/Rozler Noise Project.
As a sound tech, John has toured the World with Rock Groups The John and Mary Band, Moxy Fruvous, The 10,000 Maniacs, The Horse Flies, and Enter the Haggis.
With Subversive Theatre, John has conjured soundscapes for a long list of our productions from A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO SHOOT THE CZAR way back in 2004 to -- most recently -- DROP HAMMER.

Kurt Schneiderman*
(Lighting Designer & Operator)
Subversive Theatre's Founder & Artistic Director, Kurt is also an award-winning lighting designer.  After eleven years as part of the lighting crew for Studio Arena Theatre, he has provided lighting design for the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre, New Phoenix Theatre, Alleyway Theatre, Performing Arts High School, and -- of course -- Subversive Theatre.
He's excited to have the chance to craft yet another wild, experiencial, pathos-ridden lighting-scape for this intensely atmospheric project.

Jessica Stuber*
(Costume Designer)
An enthusiastic member of Subversive Theatre, Jessica has lent her talents to many of our productions both as an actor and as a costume designer.
A recent graduate of the Musical Theatre Program at the University at Buffalo, Jessica has experience with a number of technical aspects of theatre in addition to her work on stage.
This is the third time Jessica has taken on the role of costume designer for a Subversive Theatre production -- the other two were NICKEL AND DIMED and ...AND THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS.

Monica Karwan*
(Movement Choreographer)
The proud mother of two daughters, Monica is a graduate of UB's Department of Theatre and Dance who went on to get her M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  A skilled actress and dancer, Monica has appeared in experimental genre-defying productions from London, England to Kingstown, Jamaica.
This is Monica's third time providing choreography for a Subversive Theatre production -- the others were THE EXCEPTION AND THE RULE for the 2007 "infringement" Festival and ...AND THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS. for the 2008 "infringement" Festival.

Candice Kogut*
(Fight Choreographer)
A talented actress with stage credits that include the New Phoenix Theatre, Alt Theatre, and Subversive Theatre, and Totally Liegl Productions, Candice is also active behind the scenes as a fight choreographer.
As a graduate of Niagara University's Theatre Program she is certified in stage combat and previously provided the fight choreography for our production of ...AND THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS. for last summer's Buffalo "infringement" Festival.
