"I am an anarchist.  I don't sue, I don't get injunctions, I advocate revolution, and when people ask me what can we do that's practical, I say, weakly, weaken the fabric of the system wherever you can, make possible the increase of freedom, all kinds."

Subversive Theatre is very excited to present the world-debut of OUROBOROS -- an original work of physical theatre conceived by troupe-member Brian Zybala* and developed by an ensemble cast.  Washed in an intense soundscape and featuring breath-taking performance-art-style pantomime, this play provides a feast for the senses as it captures the joy and suffering that has marked the human race since the beginning of time.

-- About the Unique Development Process that was Used to Bring OUROBOROS to Life

Through physical movement and improvisation, OUROBOROS examines the cyclical nature of the human experience -- from hunter/gatherer societies, through slavery, to the slavery of modern day society.
Flashing back to The Garden of Eden and forward to the World Trade Center bombing, OUROBOROS follows the grand sweep of history passionately exploring our species' never-ending struggle to come to terms with the most fundamental of human flaws -- jealousy, violence, exploitation, and death.
Bringing together the pathos of stylized movement with the intensity of live theatre, OUROBOROS takes audiences on a uniquely powerful and "subversive" journey that should not be missed.

Conceived of and directed by Subversive Theatre troupe-member Brian Zybala, this production features an ensemble cast that includes Lawrence Rowswell*, Bryan Patrick Stoyle, Andrea Dudziak*, Jenna Winnett, Kevin Dennis*, Kaitlin Russo, Yvette Bedgood, and Tamara S. Hopersberger.
Set, Props, and Poster Design is by Dyan O'Connell* with Sound Design by John Shotwell*, Lighting Design by Kurt Schneiderman*, and Costume Design by Jessica Stuber*.  Movement Choreography by Monica Karwan* and Fight Choreography by Candice Kogut*.
Performances run from January 23rd through February 8th, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 6pm.    All shows are at Subversive Theatre's newly established performance venue, "The Manny Fried Playhouse" on the third floor of North Buffalo's Great Arrow Building at 255 Great Arrow Avenue.
Throughout this production, Subversive Theatre continues its tradition of holding post-show discussions after each Sunday's performance.  We call this tradition "subversations" (subversive + conversations, get it?).  We've put together a terrific line-up of discussions for each Sunday of OUROBOROS so click on "Subversation Sundays" in the above right column to view the whole line-up in more detail.
Like all Subversive Theatre productions, admission for this show is free with donations gratefully accepted before, during, and after each performance.  Reservations are not available, seating is on a first-come-first-served basis with doors opening one half hour prior to each performance.  Due to the nature of the show, late-comers cannot be seated so come early and claim seats while you can.
