PAUL ROBESON
SPEAKS OUT!
February - March, 2005
at Erie Community College, Bennett High School, Nichols High
School, and Amherst High School
Subversive Theatre was proud to have the
opportunity to reprise our four-star, Artie Award-nominate one-man
tribute to the life and struggles of the legendary Black activist,
actor, singer, and orator Paul Robeson.
For Black History Month 2005, we teamed up
with the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre once again to bring PAUL ROBESON
SPEAKS OUT! to the Minnie Gillette Auditorium of Erie Community
College's Downtown Campus from February 24th-26th.
After a successful run downtown, we then took
a shortened version of the play to various schools as an educational
piece. It was a joy to take this inspiring and empowering
autobiographical play to young minds in schools as diverse as the
Bennett Public High School and Nichols Private High School. In
the middle of the spectrum, we also performed for Amherst Public High
School.
It has been an honor to do our small part to
keep alive the spirit of this awe-inspiring activist.
