Over the last few years there has been a tidal wave of
new plays written -- all across America -- that speak out against the Patriot
Act, the War on Terror, the decimation of civil rights, and all the other
atrocities of the Bush regime. With so much coming out all out once,
it's next to impossible to stay on top of it all.
That's why we decided to produce "sUBVERsIVE sHORTs"
-- to give audiences a chance to sample some of the many new examples of
protest theatre emerging from the West Coast, East Coast, and Midwest.
"sUBVERsIVE sHORTs" is a nightly
performance of four different vignettes: "PATRIOT ACT" by
Charles A. Duncombe of the City Garage Theatre of Santa Monica, CA, "HAS
THE WHOLE WORLD GONE CRAZY?" by Elizabeth Emmons of the Blue Box
Theatre of New York City, "REDUNDANCY" by Minneapolis
poet/playwright Mark Nowak, and "GEORGE" by poet/playwright Michael Fanelli from
right here in Buffalo.
This production features the acting talents of Peter
Jaskowiak, Diane M. Cammarata, Joe Weins, Theresa Baker*, Jamie Todd
Hamilton*, Sarah Orloff*, Donald Gallo, Jeannine Giffear, Joy Scime, and others.
We hope you'll join us for this rare opportunity to taste
from the vast smorgasbord of modern day American protest theatre!
