"Patriot
Act"
by Charles A. Duncombe of Santa Monica, California
About the Play:
"Patriot Act" is a creative
application of the old addage 'be careful what you wish for' that takes
on Orwellian proportions when Homeland Security gets added into the mix.
"It was written to question to what extent the
American people are willing to exchange civil liberties for promises of
security," the playwright explains, "and to explore
what the possible consequences might be of such an exchange."
The author goes on to say, "The man in
the play, without doubt, is a good, patriotic American. His failing, perhaps,
is that he has been too willing to simply accept what he has been told."
