"The thrust for freedom is the quality in tragedy which exalts.  The revolutionary questioning of the stable environment is what terrifies.  In no way is the common man debarred from such thoughts or such actions."

-Arthur Miller
1949

ABOUT THE PLAY.

"Climate Change and the Courtesan" is a deliciously off-the-wall Absurdist piece that takes place in a bizarre Global warming near-future world where natural resources are as desperately sought after as prostitutes But now one lady of the night chooses to make a stand for justice . . . and icicles.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT.

Native New Yorker Mike Fanelli lives in Elma with his wife, Anne, their two horses and seven cats, is thrilled to be working with two perceptive and talented casts and never thought he'd live to see the day that Subversive Theatre would have air-conditioning.
Subversive Theatre's Executive Director and Treasurer, Mike is directing both this project of his own creation as well as HONEY-COATED HAM by Joan Broadman.  Last year, Mike directed his original work PLANET OF THE ENRIQUES as part of sUBVERsIVE sHORTs 2009.  His original work GEORGE made its debut as part of the first-ever sHORTs Showcase back in 2005.
