ABOUT THE PLAY.

"In Gods We Trust" is a gleefully zany romp that pits two ancient gods against Al Gore in a battle for the hearts and minds of two middle American farmers straight out of AMERICAN GOTHIC!

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT.

Diane Sampson earned an M.A. in Creative Writing from SF State University.  She spent time in arts administration, and then settled down to write.  For 5 years, Diane has been a member of PlayGround, a competitively chosen pool of 36 Bay Area playwrights working in the 10-minute play form, and her plays Stuck; Three Women on a Bench, Talking; Who’s My Baby Now?; Poetic License and Monsters at Home and Abroad, His New Best Friend, and Facelift have all been performed within the past several years at California theaters.  Poetic License was Grand Prize Winner in the 2006 Eclectic Company Theatre’s 3rd Annual Hurricane Season in southern California.  Her full-length dark comedy, Charlotte Takes the Plunge, has had two staged readings.  She has also worked as composer/lyricist and co-author of the book for two musicals, Oh, Progeny! and Writes and Re-writes.  The first, a musical revue about the ups and downs of raising children in the new millennium, has had two productions in the SF Bay Area, and a developmental staged reading at New York’s York Theatre.  Writes and Re-writes, a book musical about the ways in which we re-invent our histories to make sense of our lives, won Not Quite Opera’s 2003 New Musicals Competition in the SF Bay Area.  Diane’s short play, The Sound of Moonlight, will receive a production in Santa Cruz, California in early 2009.

ABOUT THE CAST.
John Jacoby ("Clem")

John retired as Battalion Chief from the Niagara Falls Fire Department after 32 years of service.  He recently received his Associates degree from NCCC, and will graduate with a B.A. in Theatre from UB this fall.  He has appeared on stage as Gaev in THE CHERRY ORCHARD at UB, Officer George Heart in Jeffrey Beacham’s feature film DESIRE, and has also participated in other smaller video projects.  Most recently, he played Egeus and Robin Starveling in MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (Dir. Ryan Cupello) at UB.

Jane Cudmore* ("Erla")

A newly-enshrined member of Subversive Theatre, Jane is the Assistant to the Dean at Empire State College and is delighted to be part of this production. Previous acting credits include "Golda" in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, "Widow Quinn" in PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD, "Raina" in ARMS AND THE MAN at Calasanctius School. This is Jane's third appearance with Subversive Theatre – including a staged reading of Tony Kushner's HOMEBODY/KABUL (2009) and this past spring’s Necessary Targets by Eve Ensler.

Devan Corcoran ("Persephone")

Devan is a senior at Niagara University majoring in theatre performance with a minor in fine arts & design tech.  Favorite roles include: Texas Cabaret, Mrs. Crawford Midnight Caller, Lisa The Best Daddy, and The Mother Night Train to Foggy Bottom.  Devan also has stage managed numerous productions at Niagara University, as well as dabbled in many other types of tech work. Devan is excited to make her debut at Subversive Theatre, and would like to thank her wonderful director Tilke as well as the rest of her cast!  <3 you <3 your work!

Nathaniel Hill ("Osiris")

Sweeping the stages from coast to coast this, N.C.T Hill is a force to be reckoned with. However these stages have only arrived in the dreamlike stasis of R.P.M. To say the least it's exciting and an honor to be a part of such a neat production and more specifically a great caste and director. Since we got one now let forever be. Thank you and you and you.
This is Nathaniel's first time working with Subversive Theatre.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR.
Tilke Hill.
Tilke is super psyched to be directing in Buffalo again, after "The Mess I Made" at The New Phoenix Theatre. She has professional acting credits from New York City, London, Los Angeles, and her hometown, Buffalo.  These include roles in Theatre, Film, T.V. and Viral Videos. Favorites would be Sarah Palin (LA), Therese in The Crackwalker (LA), Emma in Curse of The Starving Class (NYC), May in Fool For Love (NYC), Pam in Adult Entertainment (LA) and Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (London) amongst others.
Next up you can check her out in the feature Painic and Insanity as Meredith the mute, and emotionally disabled love interest. She would like to thank the powers that be for putting these talented individuals together and organizing this festival.  She would also like to thank her amazing cast for being so perfect and professional.  As always, this is for Grandma Lynn and Birdie.
