Get ready, Buffalo, for the weirdest,
wildest, campy-est, subversive-est Christmas show you've ever seen! A
TOTALITARIAN CHRISTMAS is an outrageous old-time-radio style
Holiday adventure farce you don't want to miss.
Our one-night-only staged reading of this
off-the-wall extravaganza stars Paul O'Hern as Karl Marx and Bill Schmidt* as
that psychopathic dictator Santa in an ensemble that also boasts the acting
talents of Joey Bucheker, Anne Kurtis, Virginia Brannon*, Hasheen DeBerry*,
and Tom Izard* under the direction of Subversive Theatre's Founder &
Artistic Director Kurt Schneiderman*.
A TOTALITARIAN CHRISTMAS
originally debuted as a radio play performed by the creative team of Norm
Sham, Brian Wantuch, and Clinton Ours on WHLD Radio in December of 2003.
But this irreverent, semi-political, Firesign Theatre-esque comedy cried out
to be a Subversive Theatre presentation and we are thrilled to have this
opportunity to bring it to life for the first time on stage.
Our presentation of A TOTALITARIAN
CHRISTMAS will be the finale of our first-ever "Subversive
Survival Party" on Saturday, December 12th at our regular
performance venue, The Manny Fried Playhouse at 255 Great Arrow
Avenue on the third floor of North Buffalo's Great Arrow Building. The
party runs from 6pm-8pm. The staged reading begins at 8pm and runs
roughly thirty minutes long.
Admission for both the party and the staged reading
is a minimum contribution of $10.00 or become a new member of Subversive
Theatre and get in free.
For more information, give Subversive Theatre a call
at 716-408-0499.
