For the second show in
our 2010-2011 Season of Plays, we are proud to present for the Halloween
Season SUBVERSIVE TWILIGHT ZONES
bringing to life on stage seven of the most politically scorching episodes
of Television's classic sci-fi series!
In the tumultuous time of the early 1960s, Rod Serling's television series
didn't just offer good science fiction, but also stunning social commentary.
Many "Twilight Zone" episodes took on the most
controversial subjects of their time. We
at Subversive Theatre feel that many of these episodes are still strikingly
relevant today and we are very excited to have this opportunity to
recreate these incendiary works for the stage.
With two separate line-ups of episodes playing on alternating nights, our
showcase features unforgettable episodes like "Eye of the
Beholder" (directed by Larry Smith), "The
Shelter" (directed by Michael Mirand), "He's
Alive" (directed by Virginia Brannon*), "I Am the
Night, Color Me Black" (directed by Jack Agugliaro*),
"Number Twelve Looks Just Like You"
(directed by Kurt Schneiderman*), and "The Obsolete Man"
(directed by Colleen Neumann*).
To recapture the iconic voice of the show's legendary host, we're proud to
have Buffalo's own iconic stage actor and veteran radio personality Dennis
Keefe* in the role of Rod Serling. SUBVERSIVE
TWILIGHT ZONES also features the
acting talents of Victor Morales, Michael Dugan, Lawrence Rowswell*,
JennaBeth Stockman, Lisa Sperry, Travis Hedland, Jack Agugliaro*, Brandon
Williamson, Mark Gravel, Eric Mowery*, Trey Wydysh, Joy Wrona, Jane Cudmore*,
Tom Izard*, Brittany Kucala*, Jess Abel, Ian Tweedie, Kent Bostock, Scot
Kaitanowski, and many others.
SUBVERSIVE
TWILIGHT ZONES is compiled and
curated by Subversive Theatre's Founder & Artistic Director Kurt
Schneiderman*. Set Design is
by Dyan O'Connell* with Lighting Design by Katie Gilliland*,
Sound Design by John Shotwell*, Videography by David Pape, and
Shadow Puppet Design by Michele Costa. Dramaturgical work is provided by Brittany Kucala*, Gina
LaChacz*, Richard Harrington*, and Susan Forbes*.
SUBVERSIVE
TWILIGHT ZONES run October 21st
through November 14th with performances Thursdays, Fridays, and
Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 6pm.
Admission is $15.00 general admission or $10.00 for students,
seniors, and Subversive Theatre members.
For all Thursday performances (except Opening Night), admission is
pay-what-you-can. All
performances are at Subversive Theatre's regular performance venue, The
Manny Fried Playhouse at 255 Great Arrow Avenue on the third floor of the
Great Arrow Building in North Buffalo (yeah, we're on the third floor, but
we've got a big ass elevator, so don't let the stairs scare you away!).
Please note: On Saturday, October 30th, on the Eve of
Halloween, we will be performing both line-ups of episodes starting at 8pm and
running through 11pm. That
evening will also feature a costume party, all patrons coming in a costume
