"I used to think that state aid to the theatre was the solution.  There should be state aid, of course, but I've grown frightened of people who hold the money.
Bureaucrats are dangerous in any art, in any land.  It would be fine if government would put in the money and then go mind its business.  But it won't."

The Eternal Cry of History's Victims:
The women of our play's fictitious village in an unnamed Latin American country gather at the graveside of a victim of the local military junta -- each fearing this unidentifiable corpse may be their own missing husband, brother, or son.
Actors from left to right: Hanna Lipkind, Sandra Gilliam, Arlene Clement, Bethany Sparacio, Joy Scime, and Jenna Winnett.

Might Makes Right
A newly assigned commander (Victor Morales, right) attempts to both impress and intimidate a loose cannon subordinate (Julian Perez, left) with a display of weaponry.

Bodies in the Night
Late at night by the riverside, village matriarch Sophia Fuentes (Arlene Clement, left) pulls the twisted remains of an unrecognizable corpse out of the river with the help of her granddaughter Fidelia (Marisol Torres, right).

Pallbearers
In open defiance of a military ban, the Fuentes women (Diane Gaidry, left, Bethany Sparacio, center, and Marisol Torres, right) carry home the tattered remains of the military's latest victim -- who just might be one of their missing loved ones.

Lovers Lost in Hate
Meanwhile a pair of mismatched lovers -- low ranking soldier Emmanuel (Justin Fiordaliso, left) and ostracized young widow Cecilia (Joanna Farrell, right) -- hatch a disturbing plan to claim the newly discovered corpse as their own.

The Oppressors Know But One Answer
As the situation continues to spiral out of control, the town's trigger-happy Lieutenant (Julian Perez, right) is quick to point his gun at widow Alexandra Fuentes (Diane Gaidry, left) in defiance of the orders of his Captain (Victor Morales, center) who is forced to intervene.

Truth vs. Power
Increasingly desperate to maintain control, the Captain (Victor Morales, right) arrests Sophia Fuentes (Arlene Clement, left) and attempts to silence her with the ultimate threat -- the execution of her grandson.

Defiant to the End
In a stunning act of defiance, Sophia Fuentes (Arlene Clement, left) bids a painful farewell to her grandson Alexis (Elijah Tyner, right) rather than silence her cry for justice.
