  aFTER THE fALL

         directed by Bob Van Valin*+

starring Darryl Hart, Bethany Burrows, and Elliot Fox

subversive theatre is excited to join forces with buffalo's newest performance troupe post-industrial productions to present the Arthur Miller play that few dare to touch -- the hauntingly personal journey AFTER THE FALL

perhaps the most thinly-veiled auto-biographical tale by america's master playwright, this stream-of-consciousness drama takes audiences through a whirlwind of heart-rending events that bear unmistakable resemblance to the real life experiences of this pulitzer prize-winning author... including a devastating clash with a former ally who decides to name names for the house on un-american activities committee (no doubt informed by Miller's real life clash with director Elia Kazan), marriage to a suicidal pop star (no doubt informed by Miller's real life marriage to Marilyn Monroe), and marriage to a Holocaust survivor (no doubt informed by Miller's real life marriage to Austrian refugee Inge Morath)

plumbing the depths of one man's dizzying quest for understanding, this ponderous voyage dares to ask unshakable questions about the true nature of love, loss, and how to stay true to the deepest of human connections.  first produced in 1964 shortly after Marilyn Monroe's suicide, AFTER THE FALL continues to shock audiences as a stunningly honest glimpse through the eyes of an artist who dared to stare deep into the mirror

directed by post-industrial production's artistic director (and long-time subversive theatre member) Bob Van Valin*, our rendition incorporates a gripping array of video projections to embody the piercing memories recurrent throughout the tale making for a penetrating onslaught on both the heart and the senses

starring Darryl Hart and Bethany Burrows, our AFTER THE FALL also features the acting talents of Elliot Fox, Kate Parker, Brendan Cunningham*, Kathleen Rooney, Alex Rubin, Amanda Vink, Bekki Sliwa, and Jessica Leigh Tokarski
